The Unbound Letter

A weekly letter for people doing the work
Issue 06 What If It's Really Just You?
Friend,

This week was one of those weeks where I stayed busy. For the past few weeks and months, I've been working on being consistent for myself — trying to figure out what systems I need to create to ease some of my stress and free up my time.

So this week I began working with a new AI tool — AI Producer by OpusClip. In my mind, it was going to take much of the guesswork out of my planning. I thought I could just type the words up and the videos would be created with little to no effort.

Now, if it had worked out the way I envisioned, this would be a different letter.

"I was consumed this week with staying consistent.
But the results were not me."

The Tool Wasn't the Problem

I know I have a level of perfectionism that exists. And AI tools have fed the beast — because with them, there's always room for improvement. One more revision. One more version. One more pass.

But here's the more honest confession: sometimes I want complicated solutions while putting in minimal effort. I wanted to type a few words and have the work done for me. Not because the tool promised that — because I wanted it to be that.

The tool isn't the problem. It's how you use it, and what you bring to it. Spend the time on it. Learn it. But don't expect it to hand you a finished version of yourself.

Some Things Shouldn't Be Outsourced

"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:
marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."
— Psalm 139:14, KJV

Out of all the things to outsource, my voice, my efforts, my presence shouldn't be among them. There are many things that can be simplified — and should be. But we are each unique, and we each have our purpose.

Using the AI tools minimized my work. It did not replace me.

So I leaned into enjoying my time and accepting that it all will not be perfect — because we get to embrace those imperfections. Those are the things that make us who we are.

"AI minimized my work.
It did not replace me."

It Was Never the Messenger

Sometimes we think it's the messenger. The message. The circumstances, the places, or whatever else we can point to.

But what if it's really just you?

Not as an accusation — as a liberation. What if the thing you keep trying to outsource, automate, or hand off is the very thing that was never replaceable? What if the irreplaceable part was you all along?

For anyone curious — I use AI Producer by OpusClip for my videos, and it's genuinely helped me stay consistent. OpusClip also just launched something new: an MCP that lets you use OpusClip directly inside AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude. If you want to try it, this link gives you 90 minutes of trial credits to experiment with it yourself.

Transparency: that's an affiliate link — if you try it through my link, it supports my work at no extra cost to you.

This week's question — for you, and for me:

What have you been trying to outsource
that was never replaceable?

Simplify what can be simplified. But keep what's yours.

Your voice. Your effort. Your presence.
Those were never the problem.

Maybe the breakthrough isn't finding a better tool.
Maybe it's finally trusting what only you can bring.

I'd been working through some pain, and somewhere along the way I realized I'd quietly started believing that once it stopped, I could fully return to the goals I'd set for myself. To...

December comes and we suddenly want to review everything — what worked, what didn't, who showed up, who didn't. But what if reflection isn't...

In our sorority, she is simply our Soror. I was on crutches that day. A cuboid fracture, a boot on my foot, every step a negotiation with pain. I stood next to a woman who had walked — literally,...
